About Jaguar Cars

Jaguar is a renowned luxury vehicle brand, part of the British multinational car manufacturer, Jaguar Land Rover. The company's headquarters are located in Whitley, Coventry, England. Jaguar Cars was the entity responsible for the production of Jaguar vehicles until its operations were fully merged with Land Rover to form Jaguar Land Rover in 2013.

The company was originally founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, initially manufacturing motorcycle sidecars before transitioning to passenger car bodies. Under the ownership of SS Cars, the company expanded to complete cars made in association with Standard Motor Company, many bearing Jaguar as a model name. The company's name was changed from SS Cars to Jaguar Cars in 1945.

Jaguar has a rich history of mergers and acquisitions. It merged with the British Motor Corporation in 1966, resulting in the formation of British Motor Holdings (BMH). BMH then merged with Leyland Motor Corporation in 1968, becoming British Leyland, which was nationalised in 1975. Jaguar was later spun off from British Leyland and listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1984 until it was acquired by Ford in 1990. Ford owned Jaguar Cars until 2008 when it sold both Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata Motors.
