2001 CLUB MODEL - C-type 1952 Reims GP Winner
This C-type was
a very important car in motor racing, it achieved the first
ever win for a car with disc brakes and ended the life of
the shocking drum brakes which tended to fade as the race
went on. Stirling Moss was at the wheel when Jaguar Cars
had to borrow Tommy Wisdom's Pastel Green C-type, XKC 005,
no works C-types were spare to race that weekend. Although
not the most attractive colour, Pastel Green certainly made
this C-type stand out, it's a nice change to have another
model in our collections to balance against the sea of
British Racing Green we Jaguar model collectors suffer from
!!. The seats were Moss Green which is a strange coincidence
as the driver was a certain Mr. Moss !! who drove
brilliantly in blistering heat to win the GP convincingly.
Provence Moulage again provided the base kit, but apart from
the body and base, we threw most of the other parts away and
either made our own or bought in better ones. We added a new
Steering wheel, gearlever, handbrake, fuel filler cap,
bonnet handles, bonnet straps, exhaust, cockpit cover,
mirror, twin screens, wheel spinners and finally we made our
own decals. To finish the model off Sir Stirling Moss OBE
kindly signed the bases and a certificate of authenticity
matches the number of each of the fifty models produced.
